Full job description

We’re growing and looking for an experienced CNC Machinist with a strong programming background to help drive our machining operations. You’ll take ownership of programming, setups, and process optimization on 3-, 4-, and 5-axis mills and our automation cells. This is a mill-focused role, though experience with lathes is a plus.

Why you’ll love working here

People first culture: respectful, collaborative team that has each other’s backs. Our core values are integrity, craftsmanship, and empowerment and the entire team strives to live them each day.

We make parts that fuel the space economy here in Colorado and across the United States. You'll be challenged and proud of the work you do and the impact it has each and every day.

AS9100-certified shop: quality is our baseline, not a slogan.

Real ownership: you run your work from material pull to final inspection. We value your input and creativity!

Growth your way: lead projects or mentor teammates when you’re ready.

What you’ll do

Program (Mastercam), set up, and run 3/4/5-axis CNC mills to deliver production-ready, high-precision parts.

Leverage automation cells for lights-out and high-mix/low-volume efficiency; optimize fixtures, probing, and tool paths.

Own the process: material selection, tooling, workholding, and in-process checks.

Self-inspect using GD&T and document to AS9100 standards.

Collaborate with a tight-knit team: share best practices, help debug tough features, and keep jobs moving. Help others and have help available when you need a fresh idea.

(Nice to have) Jump on a live-tooling lathe when needed.

What you bring

Mill expertise: 3/4/5-axis programming (Mastercam), efficient setups, and confident operation. Lathe experience is a plus.

Quality mindset: you understand AS9100 discipline and build it into every step.

Problem-solver: mechanical aptitude, calm under pressure, proactive communicator.

Autonomy + teamwork: work independently and plug into the team when it counts.

Embody and have demonstrated in your past our core values of integrity, craftmanship, and empowerment.

Work schedule:

Flexible work schedule to support your life. Pick what works for you: 4×10s, 5×8s, or 4×9s + a 4-hour Friday/Saturday.

Anytime between 6 AM–8 PM (choose your window). We just ask that you stick to the schedule that you set so teammates can depend on you.

OT available at time-and-a-half (never required)

Benefits & perks

401k with 3% company contribution (no match required; above-market hourly pay).

Lucrative quarterly bonuses tied to company & individual performance.

Healthcare stipend: options to fit your needs ($550/month).

PTO: 2 weeks from day one; 3 weeks after 3 years.

Paid sick leave: 6 days annually.

Paid paternity leave: 2 weeks.

Additional leave via Colorado FAMLI.

Join us

If you take pride in producing precision components that perform in the most demanding environments, you'll fit right in here. At Hexagon, your work directly supports the companies building the next generation of satellites, space systems, and more! Join a team that values technical excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement, and help create hardware that's built to succeed when failure isn't an option.

Quality Inspector

https://jobs.rolinc.com/jb/Quality-Inspector-Jobs-in-Longmont-Colorado/14137578

The Mission

Some of our parts don't just leave the shop, they leave the planet. When a component ends up in a satellite or on an aircraft, there's no pulling it back for a do-over: it has to be right the first time, because the stakes are quite literally out of this world.

That's where you come in. As our Quality Inspector, you're the last line of defense before a part ships; verifying it conforms to print, GD&T, and customer requirements through accurate receiving, first article, in-process, and final inspection (CMM programming and operation included). The job is simple to say and hard to do: catch the nonconformance here, not at the customer. Measure accurately, document completely, and keep good parts moving.

What Success Looks Like (Your First Year)

By ~90 days: Independently program and run CMM inspections (CMM Manager) on tight-tolerance parts with minimal support.

By ~6 months: Own receiving, in-process, first article (AS9102), and final inspection for your assigned jobs; with documentation that's right the first time.

Ongoing: Customer escapes stay at or near zero; nonconformances are caught in-house, not in the field.

Ongoing: Your FAI and inspection packages are accepted by customers without rework due to documentation gaps.

Ongoing: Inspection keeps jobs flowing. Your turnaround supports the schedule rather than bottlenecking it.

Ongoing: Continual improvement and skillset advancement in CMM programming and inspection efficiency.

What You'll Do

Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspections of precision-machined aerospace components — verifying dimensional, cosmetic, and documentation requirements.

Develop, execute, and maintain inspection plans based on engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.

Program and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) using CMM Manager (our software); experience with Calypso or PC-DMIS transfers well.

Interpret complex engineering drawings and apply GD&T to ensure accurate measurement and verification.

Record inspection results clearly and accurately, maintaining all required documentation: Inspection Reports, NCRs, and First Article Inspections (FAI per AS9102C).

Identify, document, and support the disposition of nonconformances; partner with machinists, engineers, and fellow inspectors to find root cause and recommend improvements.

Perform inspection in conformance with AS9100D / ISO 9001 and customer requirements.

Use a full range of inspection tools: micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gages, and surface plates.

What We're Looking For

3+ years of quality inspection experience in a precision-machining aerospace environment.

Solid command of metrology, engineering drawings, and ASME Y14.5 (GD&T) inspection methods on tight-tolerance CNC-machined parts.

Hands-on CMM programming and operation (CMM Manager preferred; Calypso / PC-DMIS a plus).

Familiarity with AS9100D and ISO 9001.

Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving judgment; able to work independently and as part of a team.

Experience with ERP software and Microsoft Office is a plus (our team uses Fulcrum).

CNC machining or setup experience is a big plus as it gives you valuable insight into manufacturability and inspection challenges.

You'll Thrive Here If…

You treat the customer's part as your own and know how to partner with the team to get across the finish line.

You're disciplined about measurement and documentation.

You like solving problems on diverse, low-volume / high-mix aerospace work where every day brings something new.

You speak up, share ideas, and help the people around you get better.

Why Hexagon

Diverse, challenging, low-volume / high-mix aerospace parts leads to real variety, real problem-solving, and experience that leaves you feeling rewarded and excited for the next day.

A tight-knit, collaborative team that values your input. What we do is critical, but we have to enjoy each day as a team or its not worth doing.

A company that invests in learning, development, and technical excellence.

About Hexagon Machine & Mfg.

Hexagon Machine & Mfg. is a precision aerospace machine shop specializing in low-volume, high-mix, tight-tolerance parts. We hold AS9100D / ISO 9001 certification and serve demanding aerospace and defense customers.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $33.00 - $43.00 per hour

Benefits:

401(k)

401(k) matching

Dental insurance

Flexible schedule

Health insurance

We will now be offering an additional weld test for RK Energy. This will be a GMAW-MC 1G Rollout test. This is where the pipe is welded in a flat position on a pipe rollout machine. If candidates don’t feel they can pass the 6g FCAW weld test, please ask them if they’ve ever welded on a roll out and if they can pass this test. I am including some additional information about Metal Core (MC). This should help you better understand how it differs from FCAW, as well as the weld test specs. I’m happy to answer any additional questions you may have.

This will be a 2 hour weld test for Energy. It should be included on your submittals as 1G Rollout GMAW-MC in the same section as our existing testing info.. If they want to take the 6g and 1G make sure to include them both and this will be scheduled in 4 hour allowances to complete both tests. .

1G means the pipe is positioned horizontally and can be rotated while welding. Think of it like spinning a soda can while trying to draw a straight line on it.

GMAW-MC (Gas Metal Arc Welding - Metal Core) is a type of wire-fed welding that combines aspects of MIG (metal inert gas) welding with flux-core welding. It offers deep penetration and good weld quality.

Purpose: This is one of the easiest tests since the welder can roll the pipe to keep the weld in a comfortable position, making it ideal for production welding.
