Structural Fitter | Industrial & Structural Steel Fabrication
We’re looking for an experienced Structural Fitter to support large-scale structural steel and industrial fabrication projects. This role is ideal for someone who understands heavy steel fabrication, can read prints confidently, and knows how to keep production moving without sacrificing quality or safety.
You’ll be working in a fast-paced fabrication environment supporting complex structural and industrial projects where precision, efficiency, and craftsmanship matter.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Fit and assemble structural steel components including beams, columns, trusses, braces, plate assemblies, and miscellaneous steel
- Read and interpret shop drawings, fabrication prints, weld symbols, and specifications
- Lay out, align, and secure structural components for welding and final assembly
- Verify measurements, dimensions, and tolerances to ensure accurate fit-up
- Operate fabrication tools and equipment including grinders, torches, clamps, and measuring devices
- Work closely with welders, foremen, and shop leadership to maintain production schedules
- Inspect fit-up work for quality, alignment, and compliance with project requirements
- Troubleshoot fabrication and fit-up issues as needed
- Maintain clean, organized, and safety-focused work areas
- Follow all shop safety procedures and fabrication standards
What You Bring
- 3+ years of structural fitting experience in steel fabrication or heavy industrial environments
- Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication and fit-up processes
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and weld symbols
- Experience fitting heavy structural steel accurately and efficiently
- Strong attention to detail, layout accuracy, and production quality
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced fabrication environments
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable, safety-focused, and accountable work ethic
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in FCAW fabrication environments
- Overhead crane or forklift experience
- Experience supporting industrial, commercial, or mission critical projects
- OSHA 10 certification preferred
Physical & Work Environment
- Active structural steel fabrication shop environment
- Exposure to noise, heat, sparks, steel materials, and heavy equipment
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods
- Ability to bend, kneel, climb, and work safely around fabrication equipment
