Full-time Concrete Finisher



Job Overview



We are seeking an experienced and skilled Concrete Finisher to join our dynamic construction team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in concrete finishing, concrete carpentry, and concrete pouring, with 3 to 20 years of work experience in the field. As a Concrete Finisher, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and durability of our concrete projects, from residential driveways to large-scale commercial structures.



Key Responsibilities



  • Prepare construction sites for concrete pouring by setting up forms, reinforcements, and expansion joints
  • Mix, pour, and spread concrete using various tools and equipment
  • Level, smooth, and shape concrete surfaces to achieve desired finish and texture
  • Apply curing and sealing compounds to protect freshly poured concrete
  • Perform concrete repair and restoration work on existing structures
  • Operate and maintain concrete finishing tools and equipment
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards
  • Collaborate with other construction professionals to coordinate project timelines and workflows
  • Train and mentor junior team members in concrete finishing techniques


Detailed Role Description



As a Concrete Finisher, you will be responsible for the critical task of transforming raw concrete into smooth, durable, and aesthetically pleasing surfaces. Your expertise will be essential in every stage of the concrete finishing process, from site preparation to the final touches on the finished product.



Site Preparation and Form Work



Before concrete can be poured, you will need to prepare the construction site meticulously. This involves:



  • Assessing the site conditions and making necessary adjustments
  • Setting up formwork to contain the concrete and shape it according to project specifications
  • Installing reinforcement materials such as rebar or wire mesh to enhance the concrete's strength
  • Placing expansion joints to allow for the natural expansion and contraction of the concrete
  • Ensuring proper drainage and slope for water runoff


Concrete Mixing and Pouring



You will be involved in the crucial process of mixing and pouring concrete, which includes:



  • Calculating the right proportions of cement, aggregate, water, and any necessary additives
  • Operating concrete mixers to achieve the desired consistency
  • Coordinating with concrete truck drivers for timely delivery of ready-mix concrete
  • Directing the pouring of concrete into forms, ensuring even distribution
  • Using vibrators to eliminate air pockets and ensure proper settling of the concrete
