Job Description

 We are seeking a QC Manager to join our team in Mesa, AZ!
 
Pay: $90,000- $115,000/ year
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific QA/QC plans, procedures, and inspection test plans (ITPs).
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., AWS, AISC, ASTM, ISO).
  • Oversee field inspections for structural steel erection, welding, bolting, and coatings.
  • Oversee field inspections for client equipment handling and anchoring.
  • Coordinate with third-party inspectors and client representatives.
  • Review and approve material submittals, mill test reports (MTRs), and fabrication documentation.
  • Monitor welding activities, including WPS/PQR compliance and welder qualifications.
  • Ensure proper documentation and traceability of materials and components.
  • Conduct internal audits and site quality assessments.
  • Identify non-conformances (NCRs), implement corrective/preventive actions, and track resolution.
  • Maintain QA/QC records, reports, and turnover documentation for project closeout.
  • Lead quality meetings and provide training/mentorship to field personnel.
  • Collaborate with construction teams to resolve quality issues efficiently without impacting schedule.
  • Support client inspections, walkthroughs, and final acceptance processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • 7–15+ years of experience in industrial construction and structural steel QA/QC.
  • Strong knowledge of steel fabrication and erection processes.
  • Experience with welding inspections and procedures.

Certifications (Preferred/Required)

  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
  • NACE or AMPP Coating Inspector Certification
  • ACI, ICC, or equivalent inspection certifications (a plus)
  • OSHA 30 (or equivalent safety training)

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of QA/QC processes and documentation systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and codes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in QA/QC software, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work in demanding field environments and travel as required.

Work Environment

  • field-based at industrial construction sites.
  • Exposure to outdoor conditions, heights, and active construction zones.
  • May require extended hours, weekends, and travel depending on project needs.

Reporting Structure

  • Reports to construction manager, High tech director
  • Supervises: QA/QC Inspectors, Field Inspectors, and Quality Technicians
