Full-time Powder Coater



Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Powder Coater to join our dynamic manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in powder coating techniques, manufacturing processes, and paint preparation. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain powder coating equipment and systems
  • Prepare surfaces for powder coating through cleaning, sanding, and masking
  • Apply powder coatings to various materials and products
  • Monitor and control curing processes
  • Perform quality control checks on finished products
  • Troubleshoot and resolve coating issues
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures
  • Collaborate with team members to optimize production efficiency
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used

Detailed Role Description

Surface Preparation

As a Powder Coater, you will be responsible for preparing surfaces to ensure optimal coating adhesion and finish quality. This includes:

  • Cleaning surfaces to remove dirt, oil, and other contaminants
  • Sanding or sandblasting surfaces to create the appropriate texture for coating
  • Applying chemical treatments to enhance coating adhesion when necessary
  • Masking areas that should not be coated
  • Inspecting surfaces to ensure they meet quality standards before coating

Powder Coating Application

The core of your role will involve the application of powder coatings to various materials and products. This process includes:

  • Setting up and calibrating powder coating equipment
  • Selecting appropriate powder coatings based on product specifications
  • Applying powder coatings evenly and efficiently using spray guns or electrostatic charging equipment
  • Monitoring coating thickness and coverage to ensure consistency
  • Making real-time adjustments to application techniques as needed

Curing Process Management

You will be responsible for overseeing the curing process to ensure proper coating adhesion and finish. This involves:

  • Loading coated items into curing ovens
  • Setting and monitoring curing temperatures and times
  • Ensuring proper air circulation within the curing oven
  • Monitoring the curing process to prevent defects such as orange peel or blistering
  • Unloading cured items and allowing them to cool properly

Quality Control

Maintaining high-quality standards is crucial in this role. You will be expected to:

  • Perform visual inspections of finished products
  • Conduct adhesion tests to ensure proper coating bonding
  • Check coating thickness using appropriate measurement tools
  • Identify and report any def
