Full-time Material Handler - Manufacturing

$22-25/hr

About the Position

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Full-time Material Handler to join our dynamic manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth flow of materials throughout our production facility, contributing to the overall efficiency and productivity of our operations.

Key Requirements

  • Proficiency in Material Handling techniques and best practices
  • Certified and experienced Forklift Operator
  • Familiarity with Metal Manufacturing processes
  • 2-5 years of work experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment

Responsibilities

  1. Material Movement and Storage

    • Safely and efficiently transport raw materials, work-in-progress items, and finished products throughout the facility using appropriate material handling equipment, including forklifts
    • Organize and maintain storage areas, ensuring proper labeling and easy accessibility of materials
    • Implement and follow proper inventory rotation techniques (e.g., FIFO - First In, First Out) to minimize waste and obsolescence
    • Assist in loading and unloading trucks, verifying shipment contents against packing lists
  2. Inventory Management

    • Conduct regular cycle counts and participate in physical inventory audits to maintain accurate stock levels
    • Monitor inventory levels and report any discrepancies or low stock situations to supervisors
    • Use inventory management software to track material movements, update stock levels, and generate reports as needed
    • Assist in identifying slow-moving or obsolete inventory items for potential disposition
  3. Production Support

    • Coordinate with production supervisors to ensure timely delivery of materials to workstations
    • Respond promptly to material requests from production personnel
    • Assist in setting up workstations with necessary tools, equipment, and materials
    • Remove finished products from production areas and transport them to designated storage or shipping locations
  4. Quality Control

    • Perform visual inspections of materials during handling to identify any obvious defects or damage
    • Report any quality issues observed during material handling to the appropriate personnel
    • Ensure proper handling and storage of materials to prevent damage or contamination
    • Assist in the segregation and proper handling of non-conforming materials
  5. Safety and Compliance

    • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
    • Maintain a clean and organized work environment to minimize safety hazards
    • Report any unsafe conditions or practices to supervisors immediately
    • Participate in safety training sessions and contribute to continuous improvement of safety protocols
