We are looking for a skilled and motivated Finishing Team Lead to join a growing manufacturing team. This person will help supervise and coordinate daily paint, prep, and finishing operations while making sure all finished products meet quality, safety, and customer requirements.
This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who has strong finishing experience, understands coating and paint processes, and enjoys helping a team stay organized, productive, and safe.
Pay: $35–$40 per hour, based on experience
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate painters, prep technicians, and finishing team members.
- Assign work based on job orders, drawings, and production schedules.
- Monitor productivity and help ensure work is completed on time.
- Provide hands-on support with surface prep, masking, sanding, cleaning, coating application, and final finishing.
- Train and mentor team members on proper finishing techniques and safety practices.
- Inspect finished work for coverage, adhesion, thickness, and appearance.
- Coordinate with production, engineering, electrical, project management, and quality teams.
- Maintain accurate work orders, production records, time tracking, and output reporting.
- Monitor paint, coatings, and supply levels.
- Help maintain spray equipment, booths, ventilation systems, and clean work areas.
- Promote safe work practices, including PPE use, OSHA compliance, chemical handling, and waste disposal.
Requirements
- 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
- 3–5 years of experience in paint, coating, or finishing operations.
- Technical training in coatings or industrial finishing.
- Manufacturing or prefabricated building experience.
- Experience with industrial spray equipment, curing systems, or lean manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of coating systems, surface preparation, curing, and finish quality standards.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, job specifications, and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and safe chemical handling.
- Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and organization skills.
- Ability to delegate, prioritize, and keep a team accountable.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
