Utility Locating Technician
Location: Littleton, CO
Pay:$22-26 DOE
ROLINC Staffing is hiring a Utility Locating Technician to join a growing team serving Littleton and the greater Denver metro area. This position is ideal for candidates with experience in utility locating, underground utility mapping, damage prevention, 811 ticket response, construction, telecommunications, fiber optics, gas distribution, water utilities, or subsurface utility engineering (SUE).
As a Utility Locator, you will be responsible for locating, identifying, and marking underground utility lines before excavation activities occur. This role plays a critical part in protecting underground infrastructure, preventing utility damage, ensuring public safety, and maintaining compliance with state and federal damage prevention regulations.
Responsibilities
- Locate and mark underground utilities including electric, gas, water, sewer, telecommunications, cable, and fiber optic lines
- Respond to 811 One-Call utility locate requests within required service timelines
- Use electromagnetic locating equipment, GPS mapping technology, and utility locating tools to identify underground facilities
- Read and interpret utility maps, construction plans, engineering drawings, and as-built documentation
- Accurately mark underground infrastructure using industry-standard APWA utility color codes
- Document locate findings using mobile devices, GIS systems, and GPS-based mapping software
- Communicate with contractors, excavators, utility providers, municipalities, and property owners regarding locate activities
- Assist with damage prevention efforts and utility strike investigations
- Maintain company vehicles, locating equipment, and safety gear
- Follow OSHA regulations, excavation safety standards, and company safety procedures
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Need clean drug test and criminal background check
- Previous experience as a Utility Locator, Utility Locate Technician, Underground Utility Locator, Damage Prevention Technician, Construction Technician, Survey Technician, Fiber Technician, Telecom Technician, or Utility Field Technician preferred
- Knowledge of underground utility infrastructure, excavation safety, and 811 One-Call systems
- Ability to read utility maps, blueprints, GIS data, and technical drawings
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to work independently in a field-based environment

Physical Requirements
